* saturday *
We went to 13,500 ft but we were off-route scrambling over scree for about 3.5 hours upto and across a ridge that we THOUGHT would lead to summit. upon reaching the highpoint of the ridge, we could see, about 1 mile away, one of the 2 peaks (”Atlantic”)we had intended to summit. The parent peak was about 1.5 miles away (Pacific Peak 13,933 ft- I believe). a storm rolled in around noon; I was satisfied with not summitting so we headed back down through the scree. i got a big headache and a bit dizzy on the way down. fell a few times on the loose rock. i had little interest in trudging any further in the loose crap.
* sunday *
We tried to climb at vedauwoo, WY. got rained out and drove south to El Dorado Canyon near boulder, CO. we climbed the mega-classic Bastille Crack and on Monday I led my first 5.8- Wind Ridge- a beautiful, poorly-protected finger crack.
