We’re in Nanaimo, in the sunny Gulf Islands where it never seems to rain. Canada has been good to us. Lots of beautiful camps and extremely friendly helpful people. Expedition is going well; we’ve received our first food drop, picked up the SPOT unit and Apryle’s drysuit, and have charts and food for our next leg. My shoulder has been bothering me, but it seems to be under control and with good stretching and fewer -long- days I should be OK.
We’re short on internet time here, and haven’t gotten our SPOT map set up quite yet but will try to have that available shortly. Also aren’t able to get our photos off the camera here, so we’ll have to try again in Port Hardy.
Highlights to date: beautiful weather in the Gulf Isles, picture perfect campsite on Eden Island, lots of good pizzas for dinner, seeing an owl and some petroglyphs on Gabriola Island. And of course helpful folks, thanks to everyone who has lent a hand with advice, helping us move boats, offering food and shelter and rides. Thank you all!
We’ll be out of touch for another two weeks or so. Next stop will be in Sointula, after negotiating the Discovery Islands and Johnstone strait. Wish us well, and please consider giving a few bucks to help wild salmon. We’re out here pushing hard and spreading the word, please consider a small (or large) donation!
Thanks again, and look forward to talking to you all again in a few weeks!
