This spring, Terry Renner, custom knifemaker and owner of TR Blades in Palmetto, Florida, is releasing the Renner Neckolas, a new locking-sheath knife that can be manipulated with one hand. We will be one of the first to put this impressive new river knife to the test. We will both need to carry a knife on our PFDs that can fill safety needs as well as stand up to every day use including everything from spreading peanut butter to cutting rope or filleting a fish. Coincidentally, Terry grew up in Estes Park, so we hope to meet Terry in person one of these days!
The Renner Neckolas™ knife/sheath system is available in two models. Our kayak expedition is opting for the orange 2391, featuring a blunt tip and full Triple-Point™ serrations. This knife was made with paddling and extrication in mind, quickly cutting through cord and seat belts without tip penetration.
