We finally heard from Phil – on Monday we had two postcards from him! They were dated 2/19 and 2/29 and postmarked 3/3 (12 days to get here). He wrote a lot on those postcards and mentioned that he has lots of stories to tell when he gets back to civilization – here is a summary of his messages:
He’s having a great time. The weather is cold and rainy most every day. They went out for a kayak trip and returned to find their food supply stolen but a fisherman picked up new rations for them a couple of days later. He kayaked 170 nautical miles with dolphins, sea lions and penguins around. He’s been eating well – baking calzones, lasagna, cornbread, cookies….. His last postcard was written in the hold of a 50’ Chilean cargo ship on his way to the overland part of his trip.
He ends the second postcard, “Love you, miss you, looking forward to hearing from home! If you want, send me a letter and I might get it after mountain session!”
His address is:
