New Skis

My compulsive eBay-hunting seems to have paid off.  The UPS guy dropped off my new skis earlier this afternoon and the mountain shop is mounting them up as I write.  I am psyched.  K2 Sahale, 160 cm.  Super lightweight but apparently stiff enough for any skiing I’ll ever do.  This will be my first pair of decent skis.  I’ve been skiing alternately on Fred’s circa 1974 Truckers and the 195cm Dynastars that John found by the side of I-70.  Hopefully the new skis will turn me into a decent skier.  It’s all about the gear, right?  Skill doesn’t really factor in.  Least that’s what I’m hoping.

Apryle also got her hands on a pair of Scarpa AT boots (thanks to some help from our Co Springs cohort Kate!)…so the ski setup is slowly coming together.  Still need to locate a pair of ~140cm skis for Apryle, a small pair of AT bindings, a second pair of skins, a second shovel, and maybe just maybe some beacons.  I’m not sold on beacons; not really interested in spending time in avy terrain.  We don’t ski that hard anyway.  Besides that the price tag is a tough pill to swallow.

So anyhow, the 20 degree steeps had better watch out this spring. We are going to tear it up.  Anyone else up for some B/C fun?
