This was a note to the parent’s of my trekking companions in Bolivia, who were still in the field for another two or three days
TransCordillera! (to the Cordillera trekkers families)
Hola!
My name is Phil Magistro. I joined Jennifer and Jessica on a trek through the Cordillera Real this month. I left the trek a few days early, so the girls asked me to send out an email updating you on what is happening with them here in Bolivia.
We left on May 8th for a 16 day trek from Sorata to Tuni. There was talk of imminent blockades between La Paz and Sorata…but the date for the blockades was pushed back to the 15th, then the 20th, and now doesn’t look like they will be happening at all. The girls will be arriving in Tuni in a few days, recovering their things from Sorata, and continuing with their travels. All was well on the trek…..lots of interesting steep terrain and big mountains…cold mornings, mules, interesting cultural exchanges, tiny little villages with the most humble Aymaran residents….people who in their lifetime may never see the town two valleys away. I am sure they will update you more fully when they get back to civilisation…..until then know that all is well!
Take care,
Phil Magistro
