Route Map

Hiking the Colorado Trail takes you over 486 miles of rugged Colorado mountain passes, hiking mile after mile above treeline and plunging down mountain sides. We were so glad to have traveled the route North to South (Denver to Durango) and not the other way around. Traveling to Durango left some of the most dramatic scenery for the end and the vistas just got better and better with each passing day. We used the weight-conscience, backpack-sized Colorado Trail Databook exclusively for navigation on the trail; we took no maps. Before we left for the trip, we used the Colorado Trail: The Official Guidebook to jot notes into the databook.
